چکیده
Objective To expand our understanding of the pathophysiological mechanisms underlying vestibular neuritis and labyrinthitis by identifying any difference in vestibulo-ocular reflex for each semicircular canal. Study Design Retrospective analysis. Setting The Department Otorhinolaryngology – Head Neck Surgery, Chosun University Hospital, from January 2015 to December 2021. Methods We included 23 27 patients who had been hospitalized. Pure-tone audiometry, a bithermal caloric test, video head-impulse test were performed within 5 days symptom onset. Results In group, mean gains decreased 0.51 ipsilesional horizontal canal 0.55 anterior canal, leading marked asymmetry, whereas gain posterior was relatively preserved at 0.85. 0.72 0.73 observed statistical differences incidence corrective saccades on side three canals between groups (p = .002 p .003 < .001 canal). receiver operating characteristic curve showed that pure-tone gain, asymmetry excellent parameters distinguishing neuritis. Conclusion Vestibular have different degrees patterns involvement canals, suggesting two distinct disorders may etiologies.

Vestibular neuritis Vestibular neuritis is most likely a vestibular neuropathy caused by reactivation of latent type 1 herpes simplex virus in the vestibular ganglion, although autoimmune and microvascular ischaemic insults are also possible mechanisms. It most commonly affects the superior division of the nerve, which is much longer than the inferior division and travels through a very narrow ...

متن کاملVestibular neuritis.
The epidemiology, diagnostic features, differential diagnosis, and treatment of vestibular neuritis are reviewed. The authors present considerations for physical examination, imaging, and management in both the acute and chronic phases of this disease. The authors also present a dizziness questionnaire in the Appendix of this publication.
